'''Algernon Darius Crumpler''' (born December 23, 1977 in Greenville, North Carolina) is an American football player who currently plays tight end for the NFL's Atlanta Falcons. He was drafted out of the University of North Carolina by the Falcons with the fourth pick of the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft. Through time, he has emerged as one of Falcons QB Michael Vick's favorite targets. He is the son of former Buffalo Bills player Carlester Crumpler and younger brother of former Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings tight end Carlester Crumpler Jr..

Collegiate Career


During his last three seasons with the North Carolina Tar Heels, he was named to the All-ACC first team. As a sophomore, Crumpler caught 24 catches for a total of 278 yards, with four of those catches being touchdowns. In his junior season, Alge had 20 catches for 191 yards. His senior season concluded with him amassing 23 catches for 287 yards and one touchdown.


NFL Career


Crumpler made his first appearance as an NFL starter in a game against the Carolina Panthers on September 23rd, 2001. He caught his first two balls for a total of 13 yards. His first touchdown in a game was against the New Orleans Saints, on October 21st, 2001. Alge has earned 3 consecutive Pro Bowl honors (2003-2005), and has been the receiving leader for the Atlanta Falcons for two straight seasons.
